I
first conceived the idea of showcasing fine art on handbags in 2002. During
my extensive travels abroad and in the U.S., I've gathered so much inspiration
for my paintings it just never stops.
After making Suki Saks and seeing my customer's faces when they got their special creation just made everything blast off. I decided to broaden the company by purchasing other artists' works. I couldn't keep up and why try when there are so many fabulous artists in the world who need exposure.
I've always known my life would be filled with beautiful things such as art, architecture gorgeous fabrics and artistic people as well. I moved to Los Angeles in the early 1980's and took up drawing while getting my bachelors in business at Cal State Northridge. I got that over with and started modeling for local clothing manufactures, I loved modeling, I liked just standing there and pretending I was looking intent on what ever was not really in front of me. I guess I'd had enough of reality in college.
I decided to move to Taipei Taiwan on a modeling offer and I thought: okay this is going to be an adventure of a lifetime. It was, I broadened artistically, seeing Asian art, which included lots of Dynasty art and new 20th century artist as well. Moving to a foreign country was the best thing that happened to me it opened me up as a person it caused me to feel there where no limits to where I could go in life. I traveled all over S.E. Asia for 7 years I opened an export company and Exported Lingerie and hosiery to Los Angeles.
Never a dull moment for me, but I was getting tired, the truth, I was a workaholic and multitasking was kicking my butt. It still kicks my butt. I moved back home seeking more peaceful moments and it happened, moving to the high desert will relax just about anyone, it's really a place of spiritual reflection. While living here I started a 4-year study program under three great artists Louis Maestas Susan Marshall and Zhang Wen Xin. I became an artist's apprentice and painted everyday for years and I haven't stopped yet.
I still practice my Chinese and head off to the ocean on a regular basis but, living so close to the Sandia Mountians in Albuquerque is nice. New Mexico feels good, I'm home... For now.
